About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Birth

The Black Maternal Health Information Lab serves as a hub for highlights and knowledge to explore solutions to address Black Maternal Mortality in the United States and around the African Diaspora. Through spreading this information we hope to ensure that every mother has a healthy childbirth, and every child has a healthy mother.

The Black Maternal Health Information Lab serves as a resource for the Ma Chere Lab, founded by Dr. Tyra Gross, with support from Xavier University of Louisiana's Public Health Sciences Department and the Exponential Honors Program.

Mission

Our mission is to provide information about black maternal health. We plan to provide global resources to help keep everyone informed on the realities that black women and children face. We work to spotlight organizations and professionals working within the field of Black Maternal Health, such as Ma Chere Lab, that positively impact the lives and experiences of black women and children receiving perinatal care internationally. Our goal is to provide information, but also connect with perinatal professionals globally to work together to address the Black Maternal Health disparities.
